The church fellowship hall, absolutely transformed by my mom and other mother,
and a very hard-working group of family and friends. It's amazing what they did with white lights and tulle!

I tasted both kinds of these mousse cakes. They were incredible... I couldn't have asked for better desserts for
the reception. Festive, fun, special, and fabulously good! My friend and former colleague, Tina, made these
with the help of her daughter and did a simply amazing job.

Didier's sisters sang a delightful duet. These two are so talented!

I should have just written a whole post about the dessert and the coffee. The coffee was provided by
some dear friends of ours, and was ground and brewed cup by cup for each person.
 Marvelous, I tell you; it was MARVELOUS.

Well, we found the wedding photos

The disk with the wedding pictures was in Geneva, we were in Zürich... what can I say, we travel around a lot. But the disk and I are reunited, and now I'll stop typing since I know you all just want to see the photos.

A little taste of what's to come. There will be more pictures of the gentlemen, really, but it takes about 15 minutes to upload each picture since they are high quality... and I refuse to compromise and reduce the images or whatever to speed up the process. So photos come in tantalizing little batches!

By the way, this was the best wedding cake ever. It had about 7 layers of chocolate cake and mocha mousse and was beyond delicious. It's a good thing I was busy talking to everyone at the reception because otherwise I would have eaten SO MUCH of this cake.

Well...

More pictures of the wedding, including some of the formal family ones, are forthcoming, BUT we seem to not have the disk of wedding pictures with us at this very moment. We are not sure how the disk managed to escape our grasp. Rest assured, we will retrieve the disk from wherever it is, eventually. This simply means we have no pictures to post right now.

In other news, Didier completed his first week of work, and is halfway through his second week now! He's very excited about the company he works for, Sungard. His job will be interacting with clients regarding the following type of things: http://sungard.com/ourbusinesses/financialsystems.aspx
It looks like a really good job so far, and Didier's coworkers are friendly people. The interesting thing about this job is it's near Zürich, more than three hours from Geneva (where our apartment is located). Which means... the search for a new apartment has begun. Didier's aunt has two apartments, one in Zürich, and one in Geneva where she works during the week; she lets us stay in the Zürich apartment Monday through Friday so Didier is close to work. It's very kind of her, and allows us to be close to potential apartments, too.

I've been spending my time apartment hunting online, and walking around Zürich, and discovering markets, and translating German ingredient labels, and other fun stuff like that. Yesterday I walked to a kosher market and bought delicious raw honey from Israel.

I'm missing the snow a bit, but it wouldn't be so bad if only the weather here wasn't so much like Spring in Minnesota. Yesterday: Not very cold but grey and rainy. Today: Mid forties, rain/snow showers. Tomorrow: 48, rain. Supposed to be 50 by Friday. It can snow here, so I'm hoping next week when the temperature drops a bit we will see a little more winter action. I noticed the Minneapolis forecast includes highs in the single digits for the first part of next week. Send me some of that cold air so I can use the nice warm mittens I just bought!

I need some more coffee.

From Two to One

November 27th, 2010. First it seemed like a date far in the future, then it rushed from the future to the present in no time at all. There was so much activity for a few days! The day of the wedding itself was clear and beautiful, and I don't know how but everything happened the way it was supposed to. I think. 

Our memories from that day will last a long time thanks to the photography skills of my dear friend Kassy Shimotsu, and her husband Scott. I wish I could post every picture they took, but instead I'll try to pick the best - which is difficult because they're all good. So, without further ado, please allow me to present: the first batch of wedding pictures.

We took pictures outside! It was cold and there was snow all over the place, but it was a lot of fun. These are some of my favorite pictures.
